Note: Zenhub's full feature set is unlocked when you connect your GitHub Organization to Zenhub

Overview

In Zenhub, you have the ability to upload files directly to supported entities like Issues, Epics, and Comments. This feature empowers you to collaborate more effectively by attaching files that provide valuable context and streamline discussions.

Supported Entities

The file upload functionality supports the following entities within Zenhub:

  • Zenhub Issues
  • Zenhub Epics
  • Zenhub Comments

Uploading Files

To upload files to Zenhub entities, simply drag and drop files from your local device onto the entity. The file will be uploaded automatically, allowing you to quickly attach it and enhance your collaboration experience.

That's it! With this straightforward drag-and-drop method, you can easily upload files to Zenhub entities and start benefiting from improved collaboration and context within your workspaces.

Supported File Types and Size Restrictions

Zenhub supports a wide range of file types to accommodate diverse requirements. You can upload files in the following formats:

  • Images: PNG (.png), GIF (.gif), JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), WEBP (.webp), SVG (.svg)
  • Log Files: (.log)
  • Microsoft Office Documents: Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), Excel (.xlsx)
  • Text Files: (.txt)
  • PDFs: (.pdf)
  • Compressed Files: ZIP (.zip, .gz, .tgz)
  • Videos: (.mp4, .mov, .webm)

To ensure smooth performance, please adhere to the following file size restrictions:

  • Images and GIFs: Up to 10MB
  • Videos: Up to 100MB
  • All other file formats: Up to 25MB

File Display and Preview

Uploaded files seamlessly integrate with the entity's body or description, providing a comprehensive content view. Here's what you can expect:

  • Inline Display: Attached files are displayed inline within the entity, making them easily accessible and visible.
  • Automatic Previews: Images (PNG, JPEG, SVG) and videos (MP4, MOV, WEBM) are automatically previewed within the entity, allowing you to review the content quickly.

Downloading and Removing Files

You can easily download attached files. For images, use your browser's built-in functionality to download them. For other file formats, simply click on the provided link or button to initiate the download.

File Permissions

With the introduction of the new file upload system, all file uploads will be private by default, ensuring that your data remains secure and accessible only to authorized users. There won't be an option for users to make their uploaded files publicly accessible.

When you upload a file, it will be scoped to your Zenhub org, granting access to all users within your organization. This means that everyone within your Zenhub org will be able to view the file directly within the issue where it was uploaded, as well as access it through the provided link.

On the other hand, for users outside of your organization, attempting to view the file will result in an error state.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding file permissions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team!
